Lost Vegas: Reviews and Beach Discount

By Pauly
Berkeley, CA

Thanks to a few folks who have written extremely nice things about Lost Vegas: The Redneck Riviera, Existentialist Conversations with Strippers, and the World Series of Poker. The best thing is that I didn't even have to bribe them, because they gave me a glowing review for free.

Here's a few reviews/mentionings of note...
Dr. Pauly Gets To Grips with The Real Sin City and its Highs and Lows by Brendan Murray (Card Player Europe)

Update on the Book Project by Kara Scott (Card Runners)

Review: Lost Vegas by Wolynski (Wolynski)

Review: Lost Vegas by Poker Shrink (Keeping Your Head in (All) the Game)

Summer Reading
by Short-Stacked Shamus (Hard-Boiled Poker)

Book Review: Lost Vegas by Ernest (Throwin' Rocks)

A Friend and His Pen by Otis (Rapid Eye Reality)
Thanks to everyone for their kind and generous words.

And thanks to Marko and the gang running the social media department at Party Poker. They gave away a few copies of Lost Vegas through one of their promos!

OK, now some good news. The folks at Lulu are offering up a 15% discount on Lost Vegas! Don't worry, the discount comes out of their end and not mine. I'll still get my cut.

To take advantage of the 15% discount, click here to buy the book and make sure that you use discount code: BEACHREAD305

If you haven't had a chance to buy Lost Vegas, well you're in luck because you get it 15%. If you already bought a copy but want to give one to a friend, then here's your chance to do so.

If you don't know, Lost Vegas is a print-on-demand (POD) book which means that the production of the book is environmentally safe for all of you tree huggers. We will not waste any paper. Lulu.com is a third-party seller who prints copies of Lost Vegas as you order them.

An e-book/Kindle version will be available in late October. If you're a tech geek, then you'll have to be a Luddite and buy an actual physical copy until then.

Here's some answers to FAQs about Lost Vegas. And please go here to buy the book. Don't forget to use BEACHREAD305 as your coupon code to receive a 15% discount.

  1. Your 15% coupon cannot be used in conjunction with the free shipping coupon therefore the free shipping is cheaper than the 15%. I found no way to use both coupons at the same time

Yeah, I should have added that multiple coupons cannot be used. Thanks for mentioning this.

I don't need these reviews, I am 190 pages in, and would be finished already if I didn't have to work a lot of extra hours recently.

I urge everyone to buy a copy because the book is a fun read and to support Pauly for giving us years of great writing for free.

    OK,

was just going to bitch like hell because now you tell us about the 15% after I already ordered.  But as I got the free shipping the wind just got taken from my sails.  Anyone that knows me knows I hate it when a good bitch gets preempted on me.  Now the damned thing better get here and better be good or I'll be back.  Actually good luck with it.

Long time fan of your work.  I've been reading your blog now for well over 5 years.  $22 is an easy way for me to show my support.  Thanks for the entertainment over the years.  Keep doing what you do!

    Paul,

I just finished my copy of Lost Vegas and I applaud your work.  It isn't easy to deftly carve a peephole into the underbelly of the WSOP carnival while keeping lit that little flickering flame of hope that hovers over the desert.  Though you've mentioned before that this book might give due cause to dissuade those who aspire to work the WSOP beat, but I think I'm more intrigued than ever.  I'll be hitting up the various outlets in months to come, as I'd like to escape the dismal freelance graveyard that is Manhattan for a little poker writing somewhere, someplace.  So, if you need a hired lackey, let me know.

I'm one of those tech geeks, so I'm waiting until October.  Please don't hold it against me as your book is on my list of must reads.

But, will the e-book format be published using EPUB (for those using the Nook) or using Kindle's propritary format?

    Just curious...
