Glad to hear that Annette carries herself with such dignity - refreshing in this day and age when so many of the young internet wonder-kids act like total spoiled douche-bags. I railed the Dean Hamrick and Gavin Smith final tables, and was appalled at some of the chatter from the rail-birds of the younger internet phenoms that was directed towards the older players. Then the Main Event began. Not ONE person in the gallery - well, me - five railbirds and a lone ESPN camera - that's it. I watched the pivotal hand that reduced her stack by 2/3 early on - she remained gracious and cheerful.Wolynskinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5690677.post-48165279178377830842010-07-07T15:53:14.000-04:002010-07-07T15:53:14.000-04:00Maybe this is all part of her master plan. Looked like she was holding her own at the Venitian in the 10-20 game a couple weeks ago. She'll be back next year, and expect to see big things of her in future events. Refreshing to see a pro who doesn't take herself too seriously and is almost ashamed at the attention received for playing a card game.
Keep up the best coverage of the series found anywhere.goosenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5690677.post-5680937392053318722010-07-07T15:24:11.000-04:002010-07-07T15:24:11.000-04:00Durrrr came as close as 2nd.Durrrr came as close as 2nd.Paulynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5690677.post-48666627830728615552010-07-07T15:17:59.000-04:002010-07-07T15:17:59.000-04:00I mean, not put her on my WSOP fantasy team or any...I mean, not put her on my WSOP fantasy team or anything "root" but it would have been cool if she had backed up the hype with some hardware...how did durr do BTW? did he get a bracelet?dawn summersnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5690677.post-40439219256139714372010-07-07T15:16:47.000-04:002010-07-07T15:16:47.000-04:00It's too bad that she flamed out though, I was...It's too bad that she flamed out though, I was rooting for her.dawn summersnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5690677.post-10654588921671624462010-07-07T15:16:45.542-04:002010-07-07T15:16:45.542-04:00Joe,

As someone about to make the transition into being a full time online pro, the freedom and sense of owning ones own time is a joy in and of itself. Those who are financially secure need your pity even less so.

Dr. Pauly, Your previous recap from day 1A touched me to the core, and I appreciate just how great of a write you are and how well you do in getting your point across.Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04681376903728692450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5690677.post-68349937842556016472010-07-07T14:44:38.000-04:002010-07-07T14:44:38.000-04:00Dr. Pauly, you always paint a picture of how stran...Dr. Pauly, you always paint a picture of how strange a place Vegas really is, and how strange poker players really are. I can now say myself, after playing a preliminary event in 2008, the WSOP is 100x stranger than even Dr. Pauly describes. Despite all the millions being thrown around, the Amazon Room at the Rio is no more glamorous than a two-bit OTB "Racino" in Anytown, USA. Ok, maybe the floors are swept more often, but the clientele is only slightly classier. Even though I sat between Jesus Ferguson and Joe Sebok, two of the most stable, cool, and seemingly financially secure guys on the circuit, I genuinely felt a little sorry for these guys. Not as sorry as I felt for myself, being out of their league, but a little sorry nevertheless.

On another note, it's nice to know that Phil Gordon says the Ante Up For Africa "feels like a bracelet event."joepronoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5690677.post-22492166788363521632010-07-07T14:39:57.000-04:002010-07-07T14:39:57.000-04:00That was very nice story.
